About KGA Cranes

Keen Griffiths Astle was founded in 1968 by its named directors, all of whom were time-served, highly skilled craftsmen who worked for the Heywood and Wharton Crane companies. With their combined expertise and commitment to quality craftsmanship laid the strong foundations upon which the company was built.

In 1996, Nick and Gordon Keen took over as directors from their father, continuing the family legacy. Under their leadership, the company set new standards for service and reliability, consistently delivering high-quality workmanship and earning a well-respected reputation within the industry.

In 2020, Nick and Gordon retired and entrusted the future of the company to long-standing employees Michael and Robert Thomason. Having worked closely alongside them on numerous projects, Michael and Robert developed extensive engineering expertise and a deep understanding of the company’s values and standards.

Since taking ownership, they have further expanded the company’s capabilities and strengthened its industry credentials. The business is now a full member of the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) and is Safety Management Advisory Services (SMAS) Approved, reflecting a continued commitment to the highest levels of safety, compliance, and professional excellence. The company has also broadened its specialist services, such as the installation of safety lines and anchor bolts.

Today, KGA Cranes remains committed to delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality engineering services – Michael and Robert are committed to upholding the standards established in 1968 while continually evolving to meet the needs of modern industry.
